Utah Desert - WIP

Here is the painting I did as a demo in the mentoring session yesterday afternoon. It, after seeing it on the monitor, does not quite look finished to me so I will fiddle with (I mean refine) that foothills area in the background a bit more and then see what I think. I used a combination of transparent watercolor and gouache for this, it was fun working with it.

If anyone sees anything else that needs more work, have at it and let me know....

Very beautiful, Susan! You know how I love your southwestern paintings. Your mentorees are very lucky to have you.

Don't "fiddle" with it too much, Susan. I like it just the way it is. :-)

Thanks for looking, ladies! Well, I took it with me to finish at the watercolor session at the art club yesterday. I think it is finished now and more what I had in mind. Later today, or tomorrow I will photo it and submit it here to show what I did. Later...alligator!

Susan, It's lovely as it is but I might suggest a bit more darks in the far mountains (not a lot) and perhaps a bit more in the dirt wall (arroyo?). Your foliage is wonderful and depicts through its more defined detail that it is close to us. Beautiful as it is but if you feel it isn't done this might help. Go slow cause you don't want to ruin it. Your work is always top notch!

Had a question on your jewelry. What gauge do you use in the copper wire that you string and wrap? How about for making your centerpieces?

Thanks!
