Canyon de Chelly
I forgot to stop and take WIP photos of this as I was working on it but here it is in the almost done stage. I will let it dry well before softening some of the edges, lifting a few more highlights and a few more calligraphic lines. Not too much more to be done on this one. What to paint next, I wonder?

I like the way this one turned out and almost like being surprised at the finish more than seeing a WIP so that was a happy accident that you forgot to take photos along the way.
OH, I love it. I so enjoy your landscapes with the wonderful rocks and those rich colors.
nicely done Susan.
thanks too for the comment on my art blog. Gotta get back to those bears in next day or so.
God bless,
i like the work very much!
Lovely, Susan. Great to have you back painting.
This looks really cool! I've been to a place that looks just like this recently, I just can't remember the location... Do you know where this took place?
My husband and I hired an Indian guide and went through the bottom of Canyon de Chelly for five hours in our own 4WD vehicle. We had hired a Grand Canyon Guide, Marvelous Marvin, the year before and when he found out I was an artist he gave me a CD with his own personal photos, with permission to paint from them, of places I had not been in Arizona. When we were driving through the bottom of Canyon de Chelly, this "window" place would have been too far away to take the guide after all the places she helped us find and it would have meant being in there for about ten hours! So, I decided not to explore this window part of the canyon, but that is where it was.
Thanks for checking...Susan
