Goodbye Cia.....

In this new age of Internet communities, I am often struck by the closeness we feel to others whom we may never meet. This is true of Cecelia Antoinette Price (Cia). I came to "know" her through my membership in the Yahoo Groups site Watercolor Workshop. She was an artist (it so pains me to say "was") who lived in Alabama, a true southern lady who lived a very colorful life. She faux painted just about every room in her house with something colorful and had sent me photos of many of them. She truly was a muralist. She decided she had reached a point where she was going to paint what she wanted and was going to please herself so she did that in every way in her house and in the paintings she sold. She avidly set up E-Bay accounts and sold many paintings to appreciative buyers. She developed You-Tube videos of watercolor demos and wrote books about watercolor, sharing her talent.

Cia was diagnosed with cancer mere weeks before she left us. This was very unexpected and we didn't have the time left to absorb what was happening to her, which makes it harder to take and understand. But, that must be thought of as a blessing to her, for which I am thankful.

God bless you Cia, you were a good friend.....

Beautifully commented, Susan. I didn't get to "know" her because of the little time I've been involved, but had seen all she was connected to and producing. What a legacy she had developed. Good to read your thoughts. Thanks. Ruth

I haven't commented about our losing Cia, I guess I have been keeping it all to myself. This is such a great loss and though I didn't "know" her, she touched my life just like she touched hundreds of others. She was so generous with her talent and helpful to all. She will be missed.

Thank you for putting a goodbye into words. I am looking out for some fantastic sunsets because I can't imagine Cia every giving up painting.

Thank you for writing this tribute. I didn't know her or her work but as an artist from Alabama, I appreciate hearing about her.

Thanks to all of you for your comments. I just felt Cia deserved some sort of tribute here on my blog. She was such a believer in the Internet for artists and embraced all she could as far as sharing her knowledge, her great artwork and friendship via her blog, E-Bay offerings, videos and books she wrote.

As we returned from our trip this week, I saw some hollyhocks in New Mexico that were lit so well I immediately thought of Cia. One of her favorite expressions was "if it ain't got no sun, it ain't got no fun"! What a gal!
