I am mentoring someone who wanted to paint this lighthouse in this morning's session, where we painted together. I like the angles of this lighthouse and how the light hits it. Not bad for one morning's work and it was enjoyable to do.
I am a watercolorist living in the desert Southwest, a native of that area. My husband and I enjoyed traveling in our motorhome and I have taken many photographs to be used as reference photos for future paintings on these trips. I have been painting since 2000, it is a passion for me and I have enjoyed exploring all the different subjects to paint; landscapes, florals, portraits, etc. Please feel free to comment below or at susanroper@cox.net.

Good job on the lighthouse. It's a good subject to use as a class demo. I've never painted this lighthouse, but I think I will someday. I feel that it's special to me because I visited it on my honeymoon in Nova Scotia, way back in 1965.
Thanks Michelle. If I were to do this one over again I think I would do the rocks differently, including drawing them differently, but it was a good one to do for the lesson. We first tried scraping the rocks, a la Szabo, but that didn't work well in this case so we did the direct painting of them.
